Britain’s first purpose built public lending library opened in Liverpool in 1860. After severe WW2 blitzing only the grade II* listed facade remained. In 2013 a rebuild behind this facade has produced a real wow factor of a space. Introduction of the 21st century spaces has included 14km of archives and some of the city’s historic treasures from the last 800 years on show. It’s a very beautiful and peaceful place to be.
